Social Development department reiterates determination to strengthening SASSA grants

Social Development Department Minister Sisisi Tolashe has pledged her assistance and commitment to bettering South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) companies for the duration of an engagement while using the company's senior professionals at a strategic preparing session in Cape Town.
Tolashe on Tuesday expressed her heartfelt congratulations to the various social grant beneficiaries, who excelled from the 2024 matric examinations.
From the 724 156 full-time learners who registered for the National Senior Certification (NSC), 572 338 are social grant beneficiaries, representing 81% in the registered pupils during the education and learning sector.
These learners reached a commendable pass rate of 86%.
"This indicates the investment decision government is building inside the life of inadequate and susceptible young children is yielding a good effects in breaking intergenerational poverty," Tolashe mentioned.
Reflecting on the latest achievements, the Minister highlighted crucial milestones and ongoing priorities. She dedicated to urgently addressing the issue of long-lasting leadership appointments plus the shortage of staff at most local here workplaces.
Also, the Minister highlighted the need for Local community-based engagements and outreach activities.

With regards to SASSA methods, Tolashe urged management to prioritise increasing and modernising methods to further improve accessibility, queue management and prevent fraud.
Furthermore, the Minister has asked for SASSA Performing CEO, Themba Matlou, to offer a system that seeks to take care of the challenges of payment channels in rural locations by supplying an alternative Remedy for payments.
